Homosexuality and the World
God put a limit on sex. He intended marriage to be between a man and a woman. Genesis 2:24 says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Leviticus 18:23 says, “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” Likewise, Leviticus 20:13 says, “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” The woman is perfectly suited for the man, not a man for the man. In Genesis 2:18 God says, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a help meet for him.” “Help meet” is from a Hebrew word meaning counter-part or compliment. God provided Adam with someone that was suited to meet Adam’s social, psychological, emotional, and sexual needs (Bible and Homosexuality, n.d., para.3-7). The Bible says in Romans 1:26-27 (NIV),
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”
In Romans 1:32 God says, “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do this deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” These verses condemn homosexuality and say that those who practice and those who approve or support them or do not condemn homosexuality are sinning and deserve death.
